Power BI Datamart Deprecation
& The Move to Microsoft Fabric
An Important Release for BI4Dynamics Customers
On October 1st, 2025, Microsoft will be deprecating the Power BI Datamart feature. This change will affect how BI4Dynamics connects to external (non-Dynamics) data sources. To ensure seamless continuity and provide an even better experience, we are transitioning our solution to leverage Microsoft Fabric.

Understanding the Architecture Change
This transition replaces Power BI Datamart with Microsoft Fabric as the new tool for connecting and exporting external data. The image below illustrates the change in our architecture.
Here is a detailed comparison of the two services:

Conclusion:
While Fabric may seem more expensive on a per-hour basis, its scalability and speed provide a very reasonable performance-to-cost ratio.
You can expect Fabric to run 5-10 times faster compared to datamart.
This service will not be limited by the size of the data that needs to be integrated, a limitation sometimes encountered with Datamart-based projects. The increased speed will allow us to integrate more data in a shorter amount of time, resulting in a more efficient and powerful solution.

The new ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) functionality will be part of the latest BI4Dynamics application.

What You Need to Do
The migration process is simple and will be guided by our team.
1. Contact your sales representative to get more information to start the migration process.
2. Migration will come with 3 steps
- Upgrade to the latest version of the BI4Dynamics application.
- Prepare External data with Fabric.
- Process (include) external data from Fabric into BI4Dynamics database (stage).
Frequently Asked Questions
The usage of the new Fabric-based ELT is included with your existing subscription at no additional license cost. However, there will be service fees for the configuration of Fabric and the export of data to the BI4Dynamics stage.

You should plan to upgrade before the Power BI Datamart feature is officially deprecated on October 1, 2025.
